PAINTING

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Painting 1 will instruct students in fundamental painting skills and prepare them to make the transition to complex techniques.  Course work builds on painting skills introduced in Introduction to Art.  Acrylic Painting approaches include color theory, value to model form, impasto, and abstraction; students work with acrylic painting media. Art history, criticism and aesthetics are incorporated with studio production of drawings and paintings.

Painting II develops fundamental layering painting skills and continues to strengthen composition and painting skills. The course includes studies in watercolor, oil, and a wide range of media and techniques. Art history, criticism, and aesthetics are incorporated with studio production of drawings and paintings.
